I really hate the idea that we are sick. (Maybe I'd feel better about the word ill.) I like to think that pain like depression is a warning sign telling me that it's time to change something. Just like touching a hot stove hurts so you don't do it again. Only it's more complicated with depression because I have to figure out what in my lifestyle needs to change. And sometimes change seems so far out of my reach and abilities. I may be wrong, but I like this idea because it helps me feel hopeful.
My therapist and psychiatrist never say things to label me. I'm lucky. If they did, I think I'd tell them off.
I'm also on part-time disability. I could tell you stories about that and dealing with the state - they just don't get it. I've been having crying spells that work is exasperating since Saturday. Depression just makes me feel like such a small helpless child.
