I can only tell you what my expedience has been. Yes at first it was like disclosing every little detail. One little bit at a time. We would process that detail then move on to another. Some where down the line the little details turned in to more generalized details because by processing some of the single details my mind processed more details without my needing T's help. Between T's help with how to process and DBT classes to learn learn coping and mindfulness I am able to recognize a trigger now and deal with it.
As far as long term I can say that there were times when I had 2 sessions per week then went clear to once per month till something else came up then we would go back to weekly. Right now it has been over a year since I have been in a T,s office. I am able to cope when I do have panic attack but am counting days till I am able to start looking for new T in my area. My triggers are not CSA related but are related to other PTSD trauma so I doubt that CSA will be discussed.
