My experience is very similar to lonegael's. Derealization DOES feel physical - I believe it is, and that we're just not at a point yet of being able to see the function of derealization on an MRI. I suggest you google "derealization forum" - there's a good one online. And you'll find plenty of people on this forum who have the symptoms you've described.
