SO.. I went over to the coffee place with my friend.

I went out wearing a pair of gothic-looking boots I have and thought that if I wore those and people noticed them as I walked in, surely they wouldn't think twice if I switched to my platforms under the table? That's exactly what I did!

It took me about an hour or so to get comfortable and make sure nobody was in my line of sight to where they could see me putting my platforms on, but as soon as I did, they felt great.

Nobody noticed, despite me thinking everybody was looking at me, and I managed to walk over to the bathroom about an hour into wearing them and nobody noticed. On the way back to my seat, a lady noticed them and said "They look great on you!" and I thanked her a little shyly.

All in all, my first experience wearing them in public was a little intimidating at first, but the lady that complimented me really made me feel comfortable and, in all honesty, pretty confident to do it again in the future!
