At the end of January, I was SUI and I SI'd on a Thursday. By Thursday night, I was voluntarily admitting myself to the hospital. I was there and the pdoc wanted to put me on Abilify and Lithium. I grudgingly gave in and said yes to the Abilify but refused the Lithium. I had never been diagnosed bipolar so didn't see a need for the Abilify. I began the drug while in the hospital. Didn't feel great, didn't feel SUI.

Came home after 4 days and after a few days, it was like someone had flipped a switch. I felt 'okay'. I didn't feel like harming myself at all, which usually happens after a short time out of the hospital. I found a PHP that would accept just my Medicare and went to a different one than I had been at. I was given Lithium and put onto the Bipolar track of the program. I was diagnosed BP2.

I'm still on the lithium, Abilify and an antidepressant and for the first time that I can remember, I'm doing okay, almost good. Sometimes great .

So I just wanted to say, even I, who was at the end of my rope with so-called psych drugs, was able to find something that, so far (fingers crossed) has left me in better shape. Finally getting the correct diagnosis has helped to!

So that is my update. I'm on meds right now and for the first time in my 50 year-old life, I feel like I can make it!

Good luck to all out there.
And good luck to you, it was a long road you took and I applaud you for sticking to it., all the best in you new life
Thanks for this!
