Most doctors will just exchange one for another to avoid the withdrawals from stopping an SSRI, even Prozac. It stays in your system longer so they don't hit you immediately.

It ispossible to taper at a dose lower than 10mg if your pdoc can give it to you in liquid form. My former psychiatrist did that for me 20 years ago the first time I took prozac. It took a lot longer to come off it, but there were zero withdrawals. Then you may have a chance to see how you feel without any meds in your system (as I doubt the dosages at this level have any therapeutic effect). It was about a 4 week process.
