This is Snoopy, an Australian cattle dog. He was a shelter rescue and lived a long life but had to be euthanized.

He was a herding dog but I have no cattle, sheep or other herd animals so he herded my son. When my son was young (5,6,7 y/o) Snoopy would meet my son as he got off the school bus every afternoon and he would grab hold of my son's trousers with his teeth and wouldn't let go until they had reached our porch. My son wasn't particularly happy about being herded but his dad and I thought it was hysterical.
