There is a setting in your profile to control whether Signatures and Avatars are visible.

I wish I could turn OFF the smilies! If you figure it out, let me know so that I can break mine!

I would rather see a text-based version of PC, and choose to enable the smilies on demand, rather than have them blinking at me all the time.
