I have been in allot of situations like that. There are some people that thought I was crazy. But let me make an important point.

Intuition in terms of a type of awareness is what I think you are referring to when you term it as a "gut feeling". The "gut feeling" to me implies just that, a feeling, that IMO often gets confused with moments of illumination through using ones intuition. The reason I say this is because I have seen many , and I mean many, lose their shirts when daytrading by their "gut feeling"" in the stock market. And IMO "gut feelings" can be readily influenced by ones hope, desires, needs, and fears. I particularly learned this while trading future contracts in the stock market.

So I would just call it your good "intuition". But this is my opinion FWIW.
