On a side note: I hate when I have a panic attack and someone tells me in soothing reassuring voice "You're ok, you're safe.". As soothing as they think it may be - it's really not - for me at least! I had a therapist who would always word it like that and I wanted to punch her!  I wasn't ok, I wasn't safe so telling me that I was was like a joke..But that's only me..

I do think too, that to the extent I find the comments invalidating, like "you shouldn't be as scared as you are" that is completely unhelpful. I find it healing to validate how I feel, how I was triggered, and just be reassured that it will get better.
