If I had a therapist (I have never had one) I would want them to listen carefully. And then say, I'm so sorry, you have been through so much. You have done the best you could under the circumstances.

I suppose want validation, so many people if not all will have a 'It wasn't THAT bad, or a 'You are exaggerating' or say *If* what you say is true' or simply call you a liar.
Leaving me with no one I can trust to talk to. The last thing I need is yet more invalidation.
