I think this is at least part of the reason the instructions, when you register, tell you not to use the same user-name you use on other websites. Personally, I don't care. I'm older & I don't have any friends or family so there's no one to care one way or another. Besides, I hid for decades & what did it get me? If somebody doesn't like it, they can suck eggs!
