I think the answer is yes because I feel that "something" has made me depressed. I learned that not working in an occupation that I enjoy is depressing to me. I found that out by the fact that when I was employed, I was doing very well - that is, not depressed. When I left that job, my depression started back in full force. I suspect that if someone is in your life and your depression increases when they are around, then you can probably include that person as a contributor to your depression...just my two cents...
