What I found was that my usual reading and listening to mp3s was just not enough but videos really calmed me down. On the way home there was free wifi and I found an outlet for my phone and just sat there watching netflix and I was much more stable. So if you can bring a laptop or smartphone or something to watch movies etc its much much better. I would check into the wifi options at your airports a lot of them use boingo and you can sign up for that at home before your trip so you know that you'll be set. Anyway find something you really like to do to occupy you while you wait and while you fly---you could even do something crafty like cross stitch or whatever just so you stay busy and focused. Or I don't know if you play video games but a lot of the handhelds are great for trips....
