I had to deal with this when I stupidly cut, the day before my annual physical with my GP.
There was no way she wouldn't know they were self-inflicted.
When she asked about them, I just said, it's something I sometimes do, but I'm seeing a therapist about it. She was fine once she knew I was getting treatment.
