When my daughter was a teenager her moods were up and down like a yoyo. She had a suicide attempt. Now she is almost 21 and doing great. No meds. Very stable emotionally and happy most of the time.

What bazz and gencat and other teenagers here have to realize is that you have a lot on your plates. Even without depression and bipolar and anxiety and meds your moods would still be all over the place. Teenage years are hard. You have school and family and friends and all the expectations to get good grades, to work and on and on.

I really wish I would have been diagnosed and treated when I was a teenager. Things may have been very different. My daughter seems to have come out of it in pretty good shape. I am very proud of her.
