My bf isn't a talker, I see him much less than you see yours and yes, I have issues with closeness, so although this isn't an issue for me presently, it used to be...

Thing is, I've come to accept that he's the strong silent type. He only speaks when he has something fundamental to say and doesn't mind that I'm talkative and steer our convos. I'm much more comfortable now that we've found our rythm, it probably sounds like we don't have any convos, we do, just not in the manner that I initially thought we should....

He's lack of words aren't a negative reflection on me or our relationship, its just part of his character and I'm sure the same goes for your guy.

Maybe you haven't reached the point of comfortable silence yet and that's what leads you to question it, or maybe you haven't yet learned to identify your bf's love language.
He could be saying a lot to you with zero words.
Mine personally speaks in actions, it took a while for me to figure it out.
