You might be able to get a prescription from the ER. Sometimes hospitals will offer payment plans for patients who have no real money. Its worth trying.
I do understand about the financial end. I do have insurance, though it doesn't cover dental or psych., but they have raised the monthly premiums to almost $800 a month. That comes out of my pocket. If i'm lucky, I might make that after taxes in a month. Without the insurance, my meds would cost a thousand or more.
The health care system is going in the crapper since the new Obama plan has started. For those of us who need medications we can't afford, its very unfair.
Another thing to check is if the hospital or your Dr. have a compassion plan for people. I've had one hospital pick up the rest of the tab on a surgery and my GP allows for a couple thousand a year free. They won't just offer it, usually you have to ask.
To be honest, were I not living with some very good friends, I would be on the street. I hope your Dr. or insurance can help you out. Insurance companies are notorius for putting you on hold forever. Personally, I think they are hoping you'll just hang up.
