It's hard overcoming shyness and anxiety, but I'm sure you've already found out that dogs love you just the way you are and in my experience people that are around dogs are mostly nice too. Hopefully, you'll find that working with dogs will build your confidence and you'll soon feel less self-conscious.

Are there any dog's homes or charities where you could do some volunteering? Starting off with voluntary work is a great way to build confidence and get you the experience you need when applying for jobs and doing interviews. If there is somewhere you can volunteer do you have a friend who could go with you (even if it is just for the first time) it is always good to have a little moral support.

Does your school have a careers service or counsellors to give you advice on applying for jobs (my school was rubbish, we had a cupboard with three leaflets, one on nursing, one on teaching and the other on office work - mind you that was about 1000 years ago so things may have changed), if so ask them about how to write a resume, what to expect in an interview, they might even be able to do mock interviews with you so that you can practice what you want to say.

You posted a question about what activities we do with our dogs, do you go to any training or agility classes with dogs? Asking someone at that kind of group to help you get the experience you need or to write you a reference might help.

Good luck
