Oh man!! What a rude awakening haha but welcome to the world of emotions :P
Most of handling emotions come from experience in dealing with them so definitely give yourself some slack for a while. I find that meditation and being able to create your own inner peace on demand can definitely help out quite a bit. Generally though, depending on the emotions, you can dampen them with things like music, talking to people, and thinking about something particularly engaging.
For example, if I've made the terrible decision of watching a scary movie before bed I'm super jumpy and paranoid pretty much most of the night but I've gotten better and singing to myself and daydreaming before going to bed and usually by the morning I've gotten over it

(though the first time I watched a scary movie I was paranoid for 6 whole months so I mean, that's some crazy improvement hahaha)
But the rest really just depends on the scenario. I think it's more important to over prepare a bunch of different techniques and just pull them out as you need them

Pulling your mind away from it is the most important part though to anything like that will work!
Best of luck and let me know if you need more help thinking of stuff!
