I ran into this too. my insurance has a thing on their website where I can find "behavioral health" providers within X miles of my address that take my insurance (it's called "find a doctor" on Anthem's website). see if you have something like that. Then you have to go through and cross off everyone who isn't a psychiatrist, then try to google reviews/info on the ones that are left, then call the ones that you think might work and find out if they are taking new patients. then I found out most of the ones that were left had a long waiting time to get in, like 6-8 weeks. I started with a list of maybe 20 docs and ended up finding ONE that was actually responsive, had good reviews, and was taking new patients and then it took me 8 weeks to get an appointment. it sucks.

dx BPII with mixed features/rapid cycling. currently on lamictal 200 mg/day for maintenance, and after a bout of postpartum depression recently am (hopefully temporarily) also on seroquel XR 50 mg/day, xanax as needed.
