I avoided being hospitalised for a long time in which things just got worse. I was forced into a psychiatric institution last year after I had made an attempt on my life and was rescuscitated and ventilated for a few days. I was then sent to the facility and although I didn't want to do this, it was the best thing for me at the time....
Maybe going in for a while will prevent you from getting too suicidal so, it might be worth giving it a try.
