I think labels can be both healthy and unhealthy to say the least. Good labels? Loving Mom, beautiful woman, caring man.... Unhealthy labels are unfortunate because it's not a label, it's a judgement. Don't let someone's judgement affect you, it's a perception they have chosen and are unwilling to be persuaded on. Unfortunately labels and judgement come far too easily for people when they are ignorant of the damage it CAN cause. No matter how strong you try to be and are, it will affect you in one way or another. The key, I find, is continual self-talk. Telling yourself you are better than a negative label, or a crass judgement. Mental illness seems to be the easiest for people to bag on. I've been called crazy, psycho, mental, head case, damaged, you name it. Am I? Maybe, sometimes, but that's not WHO I am. Screw them (sorry, language). Don't let it control you!
