I had 2 years sober on st Patricks day. AA really helped and I met a lot of great people.

I have lost 45 lbs in the last seven months. Craved chocolate a lot in the first year.

Life is so much better but that pink cloud does go away and you have to do the work to learn what emotions you were numbing and what your drinking triggers are. It's also very important to have a good support system.
