That was my first thought, people that are innocent don't typically lie about doing a crime they didn't do, to avoid trial? That logic doesn't sit well with me.
Even so, couple that with the fact that she found a written biography saying he did it. Not sure why you'd have any questions left, it seems clear.
As others have said, I'd wonder what it is that is keeping you from moving on?
