That's not exactly what I mean - I guess I can answer my own question and say that what I really need is to learn patience, because when this stuff comes up, I want to deal with it
now instead of just letting it sit in my head for a week and not do anything about it. Whereas grounding techniques, mindfulness, breathing exercises, etc. are super helpful when your brain is going insane with memories or whatever but doesn't actually
resolve them - it's just biding your time so you can function in the meantime before you actually get to do something about them. That's really the issue - not wanting these thoughts to stay in my head, but at the same time, not wanting to just get rid of them, because then they'll continue to manifest themselves in equally problematic ways.
