Whether you know it your not, you aren't actually just biding your time. Your brain is working to resolve them. This is why therapy is so hard. It's a transformation, and it doesn't just happen in the therapy room.
If the work is manifesting in problematic ways, then, yes, I do think you need some tricks to help you compartmentalize, re-focus, and let your mind rest/work without your attention.
Resolution will come when it's time for it to come.
I hear ya though. This is sucky. It ends, but it's sucky.
