I was diagnosed with moderate depression when I was 12 years old. Two months later, I went back and they changed my diagnosis to severe depression. I expressed thoughts of suicide and also took some suicidal action from when I was 12 to now. I did partake in some self-injury during that time. When I was 13, I was diagnosed with anxiety/panic disorder, ADHD, and OCD. I was put onto the generic brand of Lexapro (Escitalopram), which is meant to treat depression and anxiety. I began getting better as I upped the dosages (I started at 5mg and went up to 20mg, which is normal dosage). However, after about three weeks on 20mg, I began feeling suicidal again. I relapsed twice (self-injury) before telling my mum. Then, we went to my pills doctor and she said that I need to get off Lexapro because it was making me worse. I started weening off of the meds. I'm now at 5mg again, and it's been two months since my pills doctor appointment. I'm about to finish getting off Lexapro, and then my mum wants me to try being "normal" for a little while.
