This happened OUTSIDE of work. If you need to get clarification, just call up the lady or when you see her again get confirmation from her that you were only making a suggestion and she understood that. If it was understood from her, then your supervisor can contact her directly to ask. Unfortunately sometimes supervisors will find anything and everything to get rid of you.
