I have been experiencing memory loss for several years now. I contributed it to medication, I had 2 seizures several years ago, and/or depressive episodes. It seems to come and go, though. I haven't been able to pin it down to one cause or another. It did seem to get better when I got off Wellbutrin XL. I got "clearer" and felt more "connected" to my experiences.
However, I've never had a pin-point/photographic memory. I tend to have more of a "conceptual/contextual" memory. Randomly, I cannot recall specific dates or stats, but if I'm in the middle of a conversation, quotes of things I have read or stats/quotas will pop up from recall. Certain things will be a blur, but I can still recall how I "felt" in those moments. It unnerves me, but I have come to live with it... the fear of forgetting.
It helps to keep a journal when I have the energy to write.. that way even when I can't remember the specifics I can still go back and read what I was thinking and feeling.
I hope your doctor can give you answers, but just remember to be patient with yourself. You aren't failing or making mistakes, you are learning and growing.
The only thing in life that is constant is change. Try to go with the flow, because stressing over what you cannot control is just pointless. Breathe deep, and try to get in the habit of writing things down until you can figure it all out.
