First of all, Dafdaf, thank you for offering your support. Suffering from binge eating for over a decade now, I know EDs are far from anything to be taken lightly; and it's unfortunate that often times people turn a blind eye to it. We are taking the first step to admit we have a problem, we have passed the denial stage; we're discussing it.
Having been one to suffer this long from it, the physical pain has caught up w/ me the past couple years now. The main cause of my lumbago diagnosis still is mysterious but the extra lbs don't help to diminish the pain.
Have you investigated the entire history of your ED? Do you know what the root cause may be? I feel these are important steps toward healing and recovery. I think in order to fully heal we have to visualize ourselves as one whom has recovered successfully. Envision how healthy you'll look and feel; and how much it means to you to maintain the healthy state of recovery.
What are the main reasons you want to recover? For me, it would mean less physical and emotional pain and more willingness to socialize and do fun activities with friends. Your reasons can motivate you.
Deadburnette, 10 yrs ago I used to be a "scale junkie", so to speak; it took me a couple years to overcome my irrational stubborn obsessive-compulsive weigh-ins. I suggest you make the effort to gradually lessen the frequency of your weigh-ins; to weekly; bi-monthly; and finally monthly. This may help to decrease the chances of you feeling discouraged. Most importantly, I suggest you take a class on nutrition as this did help to reveal the disinformation and myths that are out there. Helped me to see the real truth of what's going on inside our bodies when we consume certain foods and the amount and timing of when we consume them. Knowledge is power; so all the more power to you!
