I remember staying in a very serious relationship with a girlfriend when she was not prepared for a breakup because of what was going on in her life at the time. This was not difficult for me. It was worth it for she was worth doing this for, and I did not want to see myself as a jerk in the future. So what your wife did to you was selfish, unkind, and thoughtless. But this is my opinion. I am sure she has her reasons. Everyone has reasons for the good and bad that they do to others.

And hospitals are not a bad place to be when you need to be there. So I think you should be willing to go if the needs arises. But this does not mean that you will end up there.
