There is actually a place for this in the psychology world; it's called "Primarily Obsessive OCD, or "Pure-O." It's OCD without the major compulsions. They are called "intrusive/obsessive thoughts" and it is fairly easy to overcome! After going 3 months with Pure-O, when I finally got the courage to tell someone, I healed completely with therapy and medication. The therapy is most important, though, because if you are ever off of medication, you have coping skills to fall back on. The medicine usually prescribed is Prozac, which is an antidepressant but works very, very well with Pure-O. Once relatively hopeless, I am filled with confidence and have a higher ground on anxiety. I am not a doctor or professional in any way, but feel considerably educated on the subject. Feel free to ask me any questions.
