I've used antibiotic eye drops for infection and had no problem with them. You are better off taking the antibiotic ones as I can't see how antihistamine ones will help. Oral antibiotics can have side effects for me like belly ache or thrush but have never had issues with topical. No medicine is perfect like no food or drink is perfect. Thing is would you rather live with an eye infection or have it get worse or take the chance with medicine that most often is tolerated well.
