Yes, therapy to work it through might help. I know I avoided my abuser for a long time before there was no chance we'd meet again but then, many years later, I had a dream where I was willingly introducing them to my stepmother because she had liked him and hadn't seen him in all those years, etc. (I never told her about the abuse)
