Yesterday was an exciting day to say the least.

I work at a flour mill as a lab assistant/truck driver, and as I was cleaning around a machine I was using, a kind of industrial mixer, when my hand was sucked into the machine blades. The blades had my hand in a crushing vice-grip, and my co-workers scrambled to reverse the blades of the machine. Eventually my boss called the Fire Department and the Paramedics to come. The Paramedics put an oxygen mask on me and injected me with morphine while the Fire Department attempted to free my hand. They said I was in shock from the pain and losing consciousness. My co-workers put cold clothes on me to keep my body temperature down. Originally they were going to take the machine with my hand in it to the Science Centre to have my hand surgically removed, but they managed to free my hand after an hour of being in the machine. The ambulance rushed me to the ER and the doctor had to separate my fingers because they were kind of crushed together.

Fortunately I will keep all my fingers and I shouldn't have any long-term damage. Doctors said I would have lost all 4 fingers on my right hand if the machine hadn't stopped from me frantically hitting the button. Off work for a few days for recovery, and it kind of looks like my fingers are somewhat mangled, but other than that not too bad .
