I obviously don't know what eta is normal but an observation in general and specifically. The internet seems to give people more permission to wait a very long time to respond and in a group of extra sensitive people... When it isn't obligatory it is more permissible but it seems like a trend with businesses too. Even with companies with great reputations I have had this happen. They don't know what to say so the don't. If you were in a crowded room helping other or just involved in a task you would at least acknowledge the person wouldn't you? I did get that once. A simple "I heard you" without violating any of your rules. It means a lot.
