If your daughter is uncomfortable about going, or has any thoughts about the counsellor, it really is important that you listen to her - she needs to be heard, since this is for her benefit.

My daughter told me tonight she doesn't want to go. I tried to listen to this with an open heart and mind. Yet I really want her to go, despite what she says. I'd like her to give it a try. Am I not "hearing" her by continuing to try to get her to go even though she's told me she doesn't want to? I hate to think I'm "forcing" her. I just want her to get help. I've asked her to give it a try. Do you think it is OK that I insist she go to a few sessions? Or is this totally counterproductive?
