I keep a journal and I write in it a lot, typically first thing in the morning, and at night. I've been writing in it since 2002 and it's now over 1,800 pages. Sometimes I just write what I'm up to, to help me keep track. Sometimes I write how new meds are affecting me, and sometimes I work out emotional stuff that's bothering me or confusing me - somehow it helps to see it in writing.
This journal is on line. Sometimes I share what I've written with my T, other times I don't.
I also carry around a really nice notebook that I bought, that I use to write about things that come up to me related to therapy, that I want to share with my T. I find it helpful to always have on hand.
I'd say decide if you're more comfortable typing on your keyboard or handwriting in a note book. If you prefer handwriting, splurge and buy a really nice notebook, with nice paper.
There's nothing silly at all about keeping a journal.
