Hey guys, how's it going? I had been taking Zyprexa for 9 years for insomnia and was finally able to quit it. I sleep great now naturally. I've been off for about 40 days and don't take any medication. While on the Z, I gained about 70 pounds even though I exercised all the time and had a good diet. Every day since I've been off, I've been trying my hardest to lose the weight and it won't come off. I'm stuck at 5'7, 227 pounds. I've been running 3-5 miles a day and lifting weights. I had to stop running after around day 35 because my ankle joints started hurting from not taking any breaks.
I have not really lost weight at all. I do not understand. I have been off once before, and the extra weight melted off. For those of you that have come off of a medication that causes heavy weight gain, how long did it take you to lose the weight and how did you do it? Is it normal to have this kind of reaction, or is there permanent damage? I'd appreciate any help, I've been asking around everywhere about this and no one has been able to help.
