I saw my therapist yesterday. I let her know that I had decreased my Lamictal from 300mg to 100mg because it felt like it was making me manic...pdoc approved. She suggested that I try and decrease on my Geodon so I'm not so dependent on medication. Since I've decreased on the Lamictal, I've noticed that I've been more tired after my Geodon doses. I would love to decrease at least the morning dose so I can eat when I take it and not get so tired. I commute to school three days a week and I've been so tired when I'm driving, like closing my eyes for a couple seconds constantly. She did say that I should have like 20mg as back up in case I get to the point where I just feel like I need that extra dose during the day.
I guess I'm looking for feedback on this, if anyone has done it or what you think about it. I'm a little skeptical, because I don't think my pdoc will approve because they are so strict on keeping track of medication, how often you refill, etc. And I'm worried about something happening while I'm in school to where it affects me or my schoolwork.
I am currently on 60mg Geodon in the morning, and 80mg in the evening. She also suggested maybe eating an hour or two before I take the medicine to see if it helps me to not be tired. But I woke up fine this morning and fell asleep within an hour of taking it because I just felt so tired. I went from wide awake and drinking coffee to curling up on the couch and dozing for about 30 minutes.
