I am a database engineer. Production admin work is the most stressful career in IT. Lost data = lost business. On call schedules and very little downtime. I would avoid that one.

I did that for a little while and decided it was better to do BI work and take a cut in pay. The nice thing about database work is it suits a lot of different personalities and you can switch roles pretty easily. A lot of consulting companies hire right out of college. Those places work you crazy hours. It is great for first time experience but if stress is a concern I would not seek them out.
