I had a horrible experience on Wellbutrin. I don't remember if it increased my anxiety, but it threw me into a horrid depression. I hadn't been depressed in over 10 years at that point and the depression I experienced was worse than anything I had ever experienced. I suppose I was more anxious -- I was worrying about all sorts of things. I started to become convinced that my brain had been permanently damaged by ADs and anti-anxiety meds I had taken in the past. My doctor had me stop taking Wellbutrin and I felt better once it was out of my system.
About a year before that happened, my doctor had me add a small dose of Wellbutrin to the Celexa I was taking at the time (for anxiety and panic attacks). The idea was that the Wellbutrin would make the Celexa work better (so I could stay on a relatively low dose) and the Wellbutrin would lessen some of the groggy side effects I was experiencing with Celexa. So, it worked fine in combination with Celexa. I didn't have a bad experience with Wellbutrin until I took it by itself.
You should talk to your doc and see what he/she thinks. I hope you start feeling better soon.
