I write regularly, probably about the kind of stuff that would go in a journal or diary, but I don't call it that.
I set up a bunch of templates that I can use in certain situations. Each template has a list of questions for me to answer. I use one template in the morning to reflect on what I accomplished the day before and to plan how I will spend the current day. Another template I use when I am procrastinating.
The structured approach has worked really well for me. It doesn't feel like writing free-form thoughts in a journal.
