<font color="#008800"> When I was in my mid-teens, I used to get severe headaches that would put me in bed. I did a lot of dissociating at the time but didn't know it. As an adult, I suffered from headaches all the time. Starting therapy brought those severe headaches back. The harder the session, the worse the headache. So bad that I couldn't even stand up. Now, I still get those headaches and know they are a sign of dissociative episodes - for me.
What helps me in this particular situation is rest and relaxation excercises. Trying to ground myself or settle things down, which can be done in many different ways depending upon who is active. Some just need some nurturing activities, some need to be heard.
Like you, the medication did nothing to help them, just knocked me out. They aren't as bad or as frequent any more. I think that is due to the trauma work that I do in T. They are all being heard and are not in that initial state of panic or confusion. We are working with each of them, or the dominant players and giving them what they never had.
I hope, sincerely, that things will ease for you as you work through T. Hang in there.
