There is a board called meetup.com. There are many interest groups in this area that do not revolve around dating but other interests. I signed up to get meetup notices from a group that meets for coffee on Sats. at a nearby Borders book store at 5 p.m., so I infer that gives them options for going as a group to eat, a movie, etc.

Unfortunately, everyone was two or three decades younger than I am, and that isn't comfortable for me. It's not that I don't get along with younger people; in fact, I probably get along with them better than 70% of people my own age. But I felt that I really wasn't who they are looking for to develop their group. Since I never went, I can't know for sure, of course.
