Getting an evaluation is good. It took me a long time to get help and I really regret all the things I missed out on. I recommend being as honest as possible with your SO unless this person has gone through pregnancy and childbirth themselves it will be very difficult for them to understand the crazy amount of chemical changes happening within you.

It can be especially daunting if it is tour first child. My husband blames himself for missing my depression, since knowing the signs is part of his job but we were both so overwhelmed with being new parents that we had no idea what was normal and what was not.

So please have a frank and honest conversation with your loved one. You need a support network right now. Depression is hard and you should not have to fight it alone.
