Mindful practice in some form of meditation (of your choice) will modify connections in a positive way. There are more and more studies all the time. I can't even fathom that art as a therapeutic practice doesn't go a long way to helping. They have research in this too. A brain damaged on one side will use the other to compensate. (Right brain, left brain is bunk.) I have seen what I can do with Neuro feedback. It measures brain wave so you can see it.
