He usually isn't this "off". Odd thing is, today's session was at least in part practical and useful. He also has a habit of showing his engagement level by "leaning in" physically.

He does try. This was a very unattuned session, but not for a lack of trying on both sides. Thankfully, this wasn't an intense session. More day to day juggling issues.
