SSA interviews recipients all the time. They check up to see if there are any changes in your disabilities, household, work situation, doctors, etc. When I first received my SSDI, I was informed that they "might" interview me again in 7 years. I think the reason for the 7 years is that I'm a bit older and, by that time my disability will be transferred to retirement because I'll be in that age group. If part of your disability comes from your brain injury and you cannot formulate the words you are looking for, it's okay. Take your time and answer as best you can. They will not make fun of you or be hurtful towards you.

Maybe it would help to write out a script for yourself. If you can't do what Josie suggested and have a face to face interview, then a script would help you to let them know upfront when they call what your issues are with speaking on the phone.
